Are you committed to your and others’ health? Do you think it's vital to provide the best possible healthcare worldwide?

Hack&Heal is back, but this time in a hybrid format! We aim to gather people from around the world to simultaneously hack both online and offline in Budapest!

Hack&Heal is a 48-hour long hybrid hackathon focusing specifically on healthcare. This event provides an opportunity for developers to work together and help this sector with technological innovations.

What’s our goal?

We are looking for innovative solutions that are realistic and sustainable. The hackathon will be divided into different topics that are connected to healthcare. The exact topics will be published soon on the website

Topics

This year - instead of specific challenges - we are going to provide open topics that are strongly connected to healthcare. This way, you and your team will have less restrictions regarding what solution you can develop, and can let your imagination run more free!

The topics in 2022 are going to be:

Health innovation

More details regarding the topics will be coming soon on the website!

About the hybrid format

In 2022 Hack&Heal will mix the benefits of an online hackathon and an offline event. Hybrid format means, that participants can choose how they would like to attend the event. Anyone from around the world can join in online using Slack and Hopin, but you can also choose to attend the in-person event in Budapest.

During your registration on JunctionApp you can select your preferred way of attendance. Select offline or online depending on your preference.

If you select offline participation as your preferred way of attendance, you will get a confirmation or a denial email with all the needed information from the organizers until the 7th of March. If you do not recieve an email until then, contact the organizers via Slack.

The hackathon will be organized in Budapest and the exact address will be shared with the offline participants a few weeks before the event. However please note that there won't be proper sleeping opportunities at the place (maybe some bean bags) and for refreshing you will be only able to use the restrooms.

Although CraftHub cannot cover any of your traveling or accommodational expenses, we will hook you up with food during the hackathon, strong internet connection, comfortable tables and seats and a lot of that infallible hackathon spirit!

For having an unforgettable experience do not forget about the most important things to bring with you to the venue, like your laptop, its charger and some change clothes.

Due to the COVID situation worldwide regulations and restrictions are continuously changing. That's why to attend the event in-person you will need to have a valid vaccination card or passport to verify your immunity. However, we will keep you up to date during the admitting process.

Game rules

Draft submissions

  • For draft submission, you have to create a project in the JunctionApp in the Hack&Heal hybrid hackathon 2022 event, you can easily save this draft project without any completed description
  • When creating a draft project, it is enough for us if you only give a name to your project and choose the topic you will work on
  • At the draft submission deadlines we would only like to see how many projects will be submitted on the different topics.

Final submission

To submit your project, please follow these steps:

  1. Create a maximum 2 minutes long pitch video and upload it to YouTube (The video can have you talking, a live app demo (if you have one), some cool animation, etc… whatever fits best)
  2. Make a GitHub repo and make sure you set it public in the JunctionApp
  3. Link the YouTube video and the repo in your submission form
  4. For safety's sake, double check that your project is in a Final status (not Draft) in JunctionApp

Please, make sure to follow these steps strictly otherwise we will not be able to evaluate your project.

We will have different types of winners by the end of the hackathon. The evaluations will have 2 rounds according to the following:

  1. First round from 10:30 am on Sunday:
    1. Topic winners will be chosen by partners. Each partner will get a judging sheet filled out with the projects submitted to their topic. We will have a topic winner for each topic. The exact evaluation criterias will be shared a few days before the event.
    2. In the meantime, while the partners are evaluating, teams can also vote for each other’s projects on the JunctionApp with the Gavel algorithm. At the end of this voting, those teams who got the most votes in their topic will be chosen into the finalists. (For more information about this algorithm, please read the FAQ)
  2. Second round after the Live pitches on Sunday:
    1. The Grand winner will be selected from the topic winners chosen by the partners and the teams who got the most votes in JunctionApp by the community in each topic. After the live pitches, the final evaluation will open, and only registered teams and partners (including mentors and jury) will be able to vote. Votes will be collected in two ways: from teams in JunctionApp by final voting and from partners via form.

As mentioned above, we will announce different types of winners with precious prizes.

  • The topic partners will provide a prize of 1,500 € for the teams they selected as their Topic winner
  • And the grand prize around of 2,000 - 3,000 € will go to the Grand winner who will be chosen from the finalists by the teams and the partners.
